My GCBS audition bake: Chai Banana Fritters

Season 2 of CBC's The Great Canadian Baking Show is announced! What great news! 

I've been asked a lot for tips on applying for the show and what I made for my audition....so here it is!

I made these Chai Banana Fritters! One of my favorites to make and they sure don't last long in my house.  I figured these little treats shows a lot about the style of baking I love to do and they incorporated spices I like adding to my baking!

Tips for applying? Here are my two cents:

  • First off, Be Yourself!...This is a show that features real people that love to bake.  So, don't be afraid to just be yourself and incorporate your personality into your bakes!
  • How to incorporate YOU in your bakes? Well this show is all about Canada, so show them about your own baking style, cultural heritage, or even a little about the region of Canada you are from (I'm prairie biased, I must admit!)
  • Focus on the bakes you're good at: Just because you think everyone else will do a cake, it doesn't mean you have to as long as you have something else to impress the panel. 
  • And last off, just relax and have fun! This show is such an amazing experience, whether you get past the audition round or not, just make sure you enjoy the ride! 

If you are on the fence about applying, trust me, just apply! You have nothing to lose and you owe it to yourself to give it a try.  When else will you have an opportunity to be taken out of your everyday life to focus on something you love doing?  After all, life is about collecting moments, and trust me, this was one of the coolest moments of my life.
